I think this is just as important - if not more so - for someone who is starting out. Changing your pricing later is so much harder than simply starting out in a good place. This is one of those investments that you can't afford NOT to buy. I personally believe you will see a quick return for your investment. I certainly did. -- Laura

haven't done an in depth reading yet, but just quick read as it was coming off the printer - Can I just say already that this is by far the best purchase I have made this year for my marketing (if not ever), beats the heck out of the Cafe Joy thing I signed up for that I thought would be along these types of line, but was not sadly (and so was a big waste of time), this is worth every cent and then some.

I devoured the cookbook the first day I got it! I refer back to it every couple of days, it just all makes so much sense and it is so lighthearted and funny! I don't think I've ever been that interested in learning anything... in my life. I was focused 100% ...never skipped a word or faded off into magical lala land. By page five the truth was know... I've been starving myself for years-- and without a doubt I very much needed that lesson! I couldn't even sleep last night thinking about all my new views on pricing. A feeling of confidence and relief! The book is very well written, strict & encouraging while humorous and down to earth . I really felt like Alicia was there telling me all the good stuff face to face- the book has quite a personality. Every little question I came up with was a few sentences ahead of me... usually in bold. lol It's like being instantly called out on every excuse you let run across your little pea brain. I'm hard headed- and that's exactly what I needed. My whole business has been trial and error, trial and error... I've made so many mistakes that when I do something right I damn near can't remember how I did it. All in all this book just made everything REAL for me! I have to step my game up and even better, I know exactly HOW to do it and WHY i'm doing it- which is something we all need to mentally expand. The formulas in the book blew my mind- I could of slapped myself for wasting two years not knowing this. I had notes scribbled everywhere... my calculator and highlighter out... and for once in my life... I was so not ready for the bell to ring!! I will definitely be making some money honey and joining the pantry quick fast and in a hurry!
She made a believer out of me and I would recommend this price guide without any hesitation. It sure will stop me from asking 101 questions a day. When we ask questions, we typically know what we want to hear... if we don't hear it... we somehow transform whatever we did hear into what we think we already know and needed to hear. Last week I was floating along thinking I was doing great . . . making okay money . . . when all of the sudden I stumbled upon your book (and the Pantry) and I CAN NOT even begin to describe how it has taken the ideas of my business and thrown them sky high! I started in june 2008 with average pricing ($20 5x7). I worked really hard to get into my target market and succeeded. My average session sale last year (6 months) was just shy of $1010. I was ecstatic to say the least! BUT, (there's always a but, right?) my COGS were awfully high. While my clients were spending what I considered a lot of money (way more than I could afford) they were getting LOTS of great stuff. In order to support my family financially and have a profitable business, I knew I had to make some changes. I begged Alicia to let me buy the guide before anyone as a tester and she caved I have all my new pricing ready to go, but have only used it on one newborn client because I have been booked under old pricing. My very first and only order with new pricing I printed on computer paper before the session spent 1750. My largest sale EVER. Now, this isn't double or triple my average by any means and I will admit that I expected a good sale from this client, BUT the thing that all photographers must understand is the profit margin here. Even though I could have easily had a 1500 sale (my highest before Easy as Pie), my profit would have been much lower. With the 1700 order, my profit was over 1400 and that is being really conservative. (rounding up, including gas for travel, packaging, EVERYTHING). This really changes my life in terms of my families finances.Best investment EVER!!!--Crystal
